Bruce Thompson is an independent consultant, advising client organizations on financial sector supervisory strategies and practices. His client organizations operate in the not-for-profit and the for-profit sectors. The emphasis of his ongoing work is to assist national financial supervisory agencies in modernizing their supervision approaches to utilize more effective understandings of appropriate risk management approaches, oversight and corporate governance expectations. The breadth of Bruce’s consultancy work encompasses developmental projects in Central/South American, Asia, and Africa.
Prior to his work as an independent consultant, Bruce enjoyed a long career at Canada’s Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, working extensively in the Property and Casualty field. Subsequent to his career at OSFI, he worked for several years as a Program Director for the Toronto Leadership Centre. Bruce’s focus at the Toronto Centre was to lead teams of professional advisors working with national financial supervisory agencies to improve financial sector supervision approaches, and adoption of internationally acknowledged standards of practice.
